Who is Harima Chemicals, Inc.?
Harima Chemicals, Inc. is the largest fractionator of crude tall oil in the Asia Pacific region. It operates the world's first "closed system" tall oil fractionation plant. The product streams from this fractionation tower are applied to the rosin, fatty acid, pitch and heads industries producing a wide variety of products from rosin size, electronics materials additives, and paint additives to sterols and power for the local community at their co-generation plant.
Harima Chemicals, Inc. is a diversified global manufacturer of industrial resins, paper chemicals, and heath food additives. Harima acquired Plasmine Technology in 1990 to compliment its current paper chemicals portfolio and to provide Harima with an avenue to sell Harima paper chemicals technology into the North American market. Resins
Harima Chemicals, Inc. is proud of its efforts in one of its major fields, the manufacture and distribution of resins for paint, ink and tackifiers.
Paper Chemicals
A major field of endeavor for HARIMA is the manufacture and distribution of chemicals for the papermaking industry. These chemicals include sizing agents (which control water resistance and absorbency), paper strengthening agents, flocculants, and deinking agents (for the paper recycling process). HARIMA's superior R&D staff is always seeking technological improvements. As environmental concerns increase around the world, HARIMA is proud to be in the forefront of the solution.
Tall Oil Products
HARIMA imports more than 60 thousand metric tons of crude tall oil (CTO) every year from the U.S.A. and other countries. HARIMA operates the largest tall oil fractionator in Asia. The CTO is processed to produce tall oil rosin (TOR), tall oil fatty acids (TOFA), and tall oil pitch. A large portion of these materials are used internally to produce a variety of resin products. Some of the tall oil rosin and tall oil fatty acids, however, are reserved for our customers.

Health Foods
HARIMA distributes Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) as health foods and food additives. DHA is a polyunsaturated fatty acid often found in tuna and bonito oil. In the human anatomy, DHA exists mainly in the neurons of the brain.

Food Products
Mainly for our business customers, HARIMA produces and sells processed food using only carefully selected raw materials imported from other Asian nations as well as the freshest ingredients grown domestically.
Leisure Service
The HARIMA Group is also involved in the field of leisure services. HARIMA owns and manages an impressive resort in western Japan of Okayama Prefecture. The cornerstone of this resort is its first class golf course, but it also includes hotels, a natural hot spa, a swimming pool, and tennis courts. The superior facilities and services provided to its guests satisfy their health and leisure requirements and help to improve the quality of their lives.
